What is Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional Therapy is exercise based education directed towards the muscles of the face including the lips and tongue. Through behaviors, the facial muscles dictate development and function. The goal of orofacial myology is to have positive behaviors that provide proper facial development, muscular tone and maintenance.
What is Breathing Therapy?
Breathing Therapy is behavioral education based around the various ways breathing is accomplished. Breathing can bring negative symptoms depending on if the behavior is unideal. The goal of breathing education is to have positive habits that promote wellness as a whole.
How does change happen?
With each learning session, exercises are given for the client or family to do at home in between visits. The exercises are easy, fun and do not take up a lot of time. With daily work on the exercises, muscular and behavioral changes take place moving you closer towards maintenance and establishment of positive behaviors.
What benefits are possible by doing Myofunctional and Breathing Therapy sessions?

How much time needs to be invested?
On average, a treatment plan is geared towards 8-12 sessions depending on the goals, progress and consistency with exercises between learning sessions. Sessions are usually spaced out 2-3 weeks with flexibility if needed.
Joyful Breathing wants to make sure that the educational model is set to a pace that promotes continued change and establishment of the positive behaviors taught.
How much do sessions cost?
Initial Assessment (75 minutes) - $250/person
Family Pricing for Assessment - $250 plus $125 additional/person
Learning Sessions (30 minutes) - $100/person
Family Pricing for Learning Sessions - $100 plus $55 additional/person
*Family scheduling must be done during the same session time
What ages benefit from learning sessions?
All ages are welcomed and benefit from learning sessions. At Joyful Breathing, we believe that preventative education is just as important as re-education which is why all ages, even infants, are ideal for learning sessions.
Will there be need for extra care elsewhere from other practitioners?
Sometimes an extra member of the team is needed to ensure full care depending on the issues present. Practitioners that could be recommended include chiropractors, tongue-tie specialist, ENT, etc.
Do you take insurance?
Myofunctional Therapy and Breathing Education is not covered by Medical or Dental Insurance but Joyful Breathing is able to use Health Saving Accounts (HSA).
My child is Neurodivergent; is your office open and friendly to how my child may need to learn or communicate?
Absolutely! Joyful Breathing does not have a set program that all people must fit into. Each program is catered to the individual and how the individual will learn best. At Joyful Breathing, sensory needs are considered while sensory overload is minimized. Flexibility in learning is encouraged and all forms of communication are valid.
